It will be a Christmas miracle if I'm able to actually decorate and photograph any part of my home this holiday season (this 📷 is from last year). We're still living on concrete with half-finished projects all over the house. I honestly never expected to still be renovating during the holidays, but I also never expected to have this much done in our home only three years after moving in, so I'm thankful beyond words, even if I'm tired beyond description. Introducing our Brinjal Bathroom! Ok, it's just a peek for now. This amazing burgundy by @farrowandball has had me swooning for quite some time, and I've been waiting for the perfect spot to use it in our home. Our tiny powder room just so happens to be that spot, and I can't wait to share the full reveal of this dark and luscious space early next week! Countertop goes in Thursday, I'm tiling the floor tonight and tomorrow, and by Friday, this will be a completely renovated room. And Lord knows we need it right now in order to stay motivated for the rest of the renovation. Now the question is, will I have enough energy to put up a tree and shop for Christmas gifts? Stay tuned...it'll be a nail biter.

Yesterday I cut down a Cal King duvet cover to fit Hannah's full size bed, and I can finally share a peek at the third and final (fingers crossed) iteration of her room. I still have a few more things to tweak in here, but this is the look and feel that has her heart...cozy cottage with a touch of Tennessee charm and just enough color to hold her interest without overwhelming her. I promise to share the sources of her bedding in a bit. Oh, and be sure to watch my stories if you didn't hear the fun news yet!

I keep getting the same question: "How do you have

I keep getting the same question: "How do you have the energy to homeschool and renovate your house?" The short answer: I have no idea. The long answer: my environment affects my mood, so I'm motivated to create spaces that inspire me, lift my mood and feel like our family despite how tired I am. The even longer answer: I homeschool the girls and work from home, so building and creating and learning how to do things is my way of unwinding at the end of the day. I don't look at it as something that has to get done once I start...I look at it as something I get to do in my downtime, and I'm always a mix of happy and sad when a project ends. Would I have chosen all this work in the middle of a school year? 100% no, but that's how the chips fell for us, and while I've had my moments of freaking out over the mess and the chaos, we can do hard things, and this, by comparison to what a lot of people are dealing with, is not hard...it's just a special kind of challenge that I'm happy to rise to.

This woven light fixture from @serenaandlily is everything I hoped it would be in here and more. Does it put off a good amount of light? Nope. But it's beautiful, adds interest, and cozies up the space perfectly. Now, onto the floors and the fun layers in here!

Just a few hours ago, this table was covered in boxes, pumpkin guts, and takeout containers, and there was a layer of dust on every surface. All signs of life being lived in the midst of a renovation. I never want to forget this whole experience...the ups and the downs, the things we've learned and let go of, and the excitement we as a family feel about the way we're making this house our home.

P.S. We've decided to keep our checkered floors for now, and I'm so glad because I don't have it in me to demo that much more tile.

Let me explain. I know I just shared a progress photo of our hallway with different art and styling, but every time I walked by (which is often since my bedroom is to the right), something felt off. It was pretty, but I wasn't inspired. And last week, as I was struggling with my mental health, I decided to clean and style just one area as a way of regaining some sense of control. This painting means more to me than any other piece of art I own because I bought it years ago, during a particularly difficult time when I couldn't see the light at the end of the tunnel. It's titled "Keep On," and it's a reminder of God's faithfulness in carrying me through the times I think I can't or won't make it. Once I hung this up over my favorite piece of furniture, I knew it was right. Then, I couldn't help but restyle the top of the chest, and honestly...it's magic. Now I walk by and am inspired by the beauty and encouraged by the meaning of this little space, and I know I can "Keep On."
